Mexican Senate OKs New Free Trade Deal

The Mexican Senate last week approved a new free trade agreement with Peru.  The deal, initially signed in April, is expected to double bilateral trade within five years and create 17,000 new jobs.

Mexico Drops in WEF Competitiveness Ranking

In the World Economic Forum's latest "Global Competitiveness Index," Mexico maintained its previous score of 4.19 on a scale of 1 to 7, but its ranking still fell to 66th among the 139 countries in the sample.

Government Affirms Goal of Korean Trade Deal

Mexican President Calderón and South Korean President Lee said after a meeting this week that they both still intend to complete a free-trade deal between their respective countries.
