Energy Reform Signed Into Law

On December 20, President Enrique Pena Nieto signed into law his signature energy reform, which aims to boost Mexico's flagging oil production by allowing private firms to develop oil and gas resources.  However, any positive impact from the reform will take some time to be realized.

Telecom Reform Signed Into Law

On June 10, President Enrique Peña Nieto signed into law a major reform of Mexico's telecommunications industry.  The reform aims to increase competition, lower prices, improve quality, and spark new innovation and investment in the country's telecom sector, but much will depend on follow-on legislation and how the law is implemented.
