Congress OKs Increased Taxes, Higher Spending for 2014

This article discusses the fiscal "reform" and 2014 budget recently passed by the Mexican Congress.  Rather than broadening the tax base to substantially boost revenues and allow more public investment, the law consists mostly of tax hikes on current payers and a surge in spending to help offset the resulting drag on the economy.

What's Driving Mexico Toward Recession?

Mexico's economy has slowed sharply in 2013, and it could be slipping into a recession.  One key problem is continued weak demand from the United States, but what many observers are missing is that the economy is also being slowed by strong domestic headwinds.
